Current Favorites For My Lips

I have been wearing these two lip items as if my life depended on it…

Fave lip products

L’Oreal Le Matte in “She’s So Matte”

Smith’s Strawberry Lip Balm

Both of them are always in my purse and I wear the strawberry lip balm daily. I picked it up at Sephora a few months ago and it has become a product I use daily and couldn’t live without now. The Le Matte was ( I think) a special edition spring collection from L’Oreal because I can’t find them anywhere now. It is a gorgeous matte pink! I typically put on the strawberry lip balm first and then the matte color. It keeps my lips hydrated and helps the color last longer. Even without the lip balm, I get all day wear out of L’Oreal le matte lip color.

Allow me to enlighten you to the fact that maternity clothes are expensive. Which is surprising because you aren’t going to wear them forever. Regardless of that, I still want to be able to have affordable and stylish maternity wear.
I know a lot of people give the tip that “You should just buy a larger size”. I thought about it and realized that since the little one is due in October it would be a year before I could wear my summer clothes again. If I buy a larger size, they are going to be hanging off me the summer after I have the baby. I don’t mind loose fitting clothing but I don’t want my whole summer wardrobe to be loose fitting. I totally get that some people save money that way. I, myself, do not plan to save money that way. I invest in maternity clothes because I want to look and feel good!
I decided to hop on Polyvore and create a comfy yet classy outfit to wear during pregnancy. I like Polyvore because it provides links to the items you pick out. I found that dress is on clearance at Target for $19.00 so I went ahead and ordered one!
I thought the dress itself is very plain which is a good thing because it can be dressed up or laid back. I chose a more dressed up look with the gold and aqua accents. I added the pop of aqua to give it more of a summer vibe.
Simple yet chic.
I will start posting my outfits so you can get a better look at how I style myself throughout my pregnancy!

The Art of Applying Makeup

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t look like the women on YouTube or Instagram. They won’t tell you how many times they had to practice a look before they posted it. We all start somewhere. Watch and practice. It will all start coming together.

I think cut creases look amazing and I want to learn how to do them. If you know of any good YouTube tutorials please enlighten me to them!

Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm

I wasn’t on the hunt for a BB cream. I just happened to stumble upon this one…

Dream Fresh 7

I didn’t get swept up into the BB, CC, DD cream fever when it was going about. I tend not to get too excited over face creams because most the time it is more of an effort to find my shade at the store than it is worth. I heard the amazing effects of BB creams but I had yet to be wow’ed. I tried one from Rimmel and it was just a bit too light causing me to look chalky. I stuck with my bare Minerals powder because it always got the job done and kept my skin looking flawless.

Naturally, when I heard that bare Minerals was releasing a cream I wanted to get my hands on it. If I can, I go down to Sephora and try a product out before I buy it.

I hated the bare Minerals cream foundation.

I didn’t like how it sat on my skin and you could clearly tell I had makeup on. I know, you are probably thinking “Well it is makeup! What more do you want?”. If you have tried bare Minerals then you are well aware that you can’t tell that you are wearing it.  I wanted a liquid foundation that provided sheer coverage and evened out my skin tone.

I was at Wal-Mart the other day and passed by a display of Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB cream. I first checked to see if they even had my shade because let’s be honest : They don’t provide a wide array of shades most the time.

You can imagine my surprise when the “Deep” shade matched my skin tone perfectly. I tossed it in my cart and couldn’t wait to wear it all over my face!

The above picture is of me after wearing the BB cream for 10 hours. I am really impressed with this BB cream and I will continue to use it. It cost $7.99 and I believe it to be worth a try!

I do like the fact that it has sunscreen in it. With this pregnancy my skin has been all over the place and sometimes it is really dry and the sun only makes it worse. My skin has been nice and moisturized all day and my skin looks more even.

If you know of any products that are safe for use during pregnancy that help even out skin tones let me know!!

Do you have any favorite products from Maybelline?

In the bare Minerals powder my color is N40 and in the Maybelline BB cream I wear the shade Deep.

Coastal Scents 120 Palette Five: Is it worth it?

Affordable, but is it even worth the low investment?

I bought the Coastal Scents 120 palette earlier this year. I was excited about this palette because I got 120 shimmer and matte colors for under $20. I can’t remember exactly how much I paid for it but I know I didn’t pay any more than $20 for it. Coastal Scents is always having a sell on their products, you just have to watch out for them and get them while they are on sale!

120 palette 3

There are five 120 palettes offered by Coastal Scents and each palette has a different variety of colors. I chose five because it had a good mix of neutrals and neons. Some days I like to wear bright looks and other days I like to tone it down.

120 palette

The palette obviously has a nice range of colors and who doesn’t love a mix of shimmer and matte shadows?

  • Matte and shimmer together
  • I have choices
  • I can mix colors
  • The palette itself is compact enough to carry around in a bag
  • It is affordable
  • Shipping was fast

  • The matte colors have no pigmentation at all. Don’t believe me?

120 palette 2

I really thought it would only be a few of the matte colors that didn’t have pigmentation but all of them have either no pigmentation or the pigment is very visible. I even tried using primer and eyeshadow base and it didn’t make a difference in how well it showed up on my skin.

30 of the colors in the palette are matte and the rest are a satiny shimmer. Do I think it’s worth the investment?

Quality over quantity!! If I invest any amount of money into something I expect to get what is in the product description. The shimmer colors were rich with pigment but the matte colors are clearly lacking. My suggestion is to save your money. I don’t like spending money on something that doesn’t deliver all of what it is described to be. I will still use the shimmer colors but I can’t get the matte colors to show up if my life depended on it. I am not sure if it is my skin tone or if it is just the eyeshadow itself. I have another matte palette that I love (Stila “In the Know” palette) and all of the colors show up on my skin. If I do order from Coastal Scents in the future I will stay clear of their matte colors.

Clothing, Pregnancy, and Organizing

Pregnancy is not the end of your style…

In all honesty, at about 11 weeks my normal clothes started to irritate me. I knew I would soon be buying maternity clothes but before I even went out and bought a new maternity wardrobe (I don’t suggest doing that) I took a peek in my closet.

I thought of some tips that will help you sift through your closet and decide what you want to do with your clothing.

Go through your closet. If you have not worn it in a year chances are you will probably not being wearing it this year either. There were a lot of items in my closet that were just sitting there looking pretty. I made a pile to give away and a pile to sell on my Threadflip account. There were a few pairs of shoes and a couple of shirts and dresses that I wanted to sell because the items were only worn once. The items I chose to give away are gently used items that need to go to someone who will actually use them.

Pregnancy is not the end of your style. Please do not get this idea that pregnant women cannot be fashionable, because we can be! There are plenty of affordable, stylish maternity clothes for mamas to be.

Some of your current tops may fit you throughout your pregnancy. I have quite a few loose fitting or strechy tops hanging in my closet that I find comfortable enough to wear while I am pregnant. I am always about comfort but even more so now that I am growing a human. Go through your closet and decide on which items you may be able to wear throughout your pregnancy. None of my jeans fit, but I have quite a few tops and dresses I will continue to wear.

Don’t assume you will never get back to your pre-pregnancy size. Don’t go giving away or selling your pre-pregnancy clothes because you are now pregnant! Chances are you will fit back into your most comfy pre-pregnancy jeans quicker than you think.

Space bags are an awesome way to store your pre-pregnancy clothes. I don’t like a lot of clutter, especially in my room. I would rather have something look almost bare instead of fill it with a bunch of unneeded items. After going through my closet and getting rid of stuff I won’t ever wear again I put the stuff I will wear after the baby comes into space bags.

What the heck is a space bag?

I found a few boxes of space bags at home depot on clearance for $3 and that I would give them a try. You can really use space bags for just about anything but I use them for clothes because obviously I have a shopping problem. I honestly buy more clothes than I do makeup, shocking right?!

You can put a whole seasons wardrobe into an extra large space bag and it will deduce it to this:

All you need is a vacum to the suck the air out an you can store it almost anywhere. I just store mine underneath my bed because I am not a fan of totes. However, if I were to store them in the garage or attic then I would put the space bag in a tote first.

Keep in mind that these tips can be used for organizing your room as well. Trust me, it’s really easy. I am a walking contradiction because I don’t like clutter but I am not an organized person when it comes things such as my closet. Find an organizational method that you like can help you become organized which is what I am doing!

How do you organize and store your clothing?
