Simplified Makeup

I haven’t blogged in quite awhile due to a few reasons. The main reason, if you read my blog you already know, is that I am pregnant. My focus has changed a bit and so have my priorities. Secondly, my son is home all the time and we have a very busy schedule. By the time I get home I am exhausted. HOWEVER, in all honesty, I miss each and everyone of you so I am trying to post as much as I can!

Today, we had a few appointments to go to so I kept my makeup simple yet fun! It has been so hot that I haven’t felt like putting on a whole  bunch of makeup to have it all melted on to my face.

makeup items monday2

My makeup routine has simplified A LOT and I haven’t really bought a ton of makeup. Shocking, I know.

My go to items are:

Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB cream- I already did a review on it and I love it even more now because it does have sunscreen in it. Since getting knocked up, ;), my skin has been all over the place. I know that I can put this on and not have any problems arise.

Anastasia’s Dipbrow Pomade

Benefit’s Watt’s Up

Urban Decay Primer-If you haven’t tried it, try it!!

NYX Rouge in Orange- This blush gives me a nice glow!!

Lorac eyeshadow trio- Love this eyeshadow! From my understanding Sephora is no longer going to carry Lorac so I got an amazing deal on it!! Does you Sephora have Lorac?

Khroma- In the Buff Honey Stick- My favorite lip glosses!!

Milani Grandissimo Mascara- It is a nice mascara, I prefer it over the Makeup Forever one I have!

Current Favorites For My Lips

I have been wearing these two lip items as if my life depended on it…

Fave lip products

L’Oreal Le Matte in “She’s So Matte”

Smith’s Strawberry Lip Balm

Both of them are always in my purse and I wear the strawberry lip balm daily. I picked it up at Sephora a few months ago and it has become a product I use daily and couldn’t live without now. The Le Matte was ( I think) a special edition spring collection from L’Oreal because I can’t find them anywhere now. It is a gorgeous matte pink! I typically put on the strawberry lip balm first and then the matte color. It keeps my lips hydrated and helps the color last longer. Even without the lip balm, I get all day wear out of L’Oreal le matte lip color.

Coastal Scents 120 Palette Five: Is it worth it?

Affordable, but is it even worth the low investment?

I bought the Coastal Scents 120 palette earlier this year. I was excited about this palette because I got 120 shimmer and matte colors for under $20. I can’t remember exactly how much I paid for it but I know I didn’t pay any more than $20 for it. Coastal Scents is always having a sell on their products, you just have to watch out for them and get them while they are on sale!

120 palette 3

There are five 120 palettes offered by Coastal Scents and each palette has a different variety of colors. I chose five because it had a good mix of neutrals and neons. Some days I like to wear bright looks and other days I like to tone it down.

120 palette

The palette obviously has a nice range of colors and who doesn’t love a mix of shimmer and matte shadows?

  • Matte and shimmer together
  • I have choices
  • I can mix colors
  • The palette itself is compact enough to carry around in a bag
  • It is affordable
  • Shipping was fast

  • The matte colors have no pigmentation at all. Don’t believe me?

120 palette 2

I really thought it would only be a few of the matte colors that didn’t have pigmentation but all of them have either no pigmentation or the pigment is very visible. I even tried using primer and eyeshadow base and it didn’t make a difference in how well it showed up on my skin.

30 of the colors in the palette are matte and the rest are a satiny shimmer. Do I think it’s worth the investment?

Quality over quantity!! If I invest any amount of money into something I expect to get what is in the product description. The shimmer colors were rich with pigment but the matte colors are clearly lacking. My suggestion is to save your money. I don’t like spending money on something that doesn’t deliver all of what it is described to be. I will still use the shimmer colors but I can’t get the matte colors to show up if my life depended on it. I am not sure if it is my skin tone or if it is just the eyeshadow itself. I have another matte palette that I love (Stila “In the Know” palette) and all of the colors show up on my skin. If I do order from Coastal Scents in the future I will stay clear of their matte colors.

Do you love any products from Coastal Scents?

Curls, Red Lips, and Where Have I been?

Good Morning Beauties wherever you are! It is so nice to be back on the blogsphere. There were things going on in my life that caused me to put my blog on the back burner. When I write a post I like to put thought and energy into it. Simply, I don’t like doing a half ass job on anything that has my name attached to it.

The weather if finally warming up here in the Evergreen State and the burn of the sun could not be anymore welcomed!

DSCN3932 (2)

I took this picture on Monday and that is the first day in awhile that I have done a full face of makeup. I also tried a new method of curling my hair and when I took it out in the morning I thought “What the hell have I done?” and then I fell in love with it. It takes me awhile to get use to even the simplest of hair changes.

Eyes: I used Coastal Scents 120 Palette #5. Let me say this, I was not too impressed with the color pay off. Even after using NYX eyeshadow base the peach color was still very subtle. I have noticed that the colors from the palette either have great color pay off or it is so subtle even after slathering it on.

Lips: I used Jordana’s Easyliner for lips in “Sedona Red” and Wet n Wild’s lipstick in Cherry Picking. Believe me when I tell you that Wet n Wild lipsticks have great pigment! I think they range anywhere from 69 cents (on sale) to $1 and some change.

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Ebony. I L-O-V-E the pomade. Gives me amazing brows and I don’t have to worry about smudging or fading. My friend Amy of Llewsoba has an amazing review of the pomade up on her blog. I feel like the pomade has been reviewed a lot and her review is in depth with a lot of information and honestly, the best one I have seen. I may be bias because she is a blogging bestie of mine 😉 but she is pretty amazing!!

So, alas, the main reason as to why I have been M.I.A………

baby bump

I am growing a human!!!!

I am out of the first trimester, zombie phase and finally feel like I am normalizing again. I had posted this pic to my Twitter and Facebook page so follow me on either of those if you want to see what I do everyday in my glamorous (okay, not really) life!! I will write a separate post recapping my first trimester for those pregnant mamas out there  xo

Anything new with you?

Spring Lip Colors

Bring on the pastels and neon colors…

As you know, if you read my blog, I love to participate in beauty box swaps. I have met amazing bloggers from all over the world and have created great friendships. My most recent swap was with my blogging friend, who is like a sister, Donna-Marie of The Beauty Holder. She is from the United Kingdom and I live in the Evergreen State. We live far apart but that hasn’t stopped us from building a friendship and swapping beauty items!

I always post all the contents of the box at one time and then I always say “Review coming later!” Well that review never comes because I get sidetracked…and ya-da, ya-da, ya-da. Anyways, I thought reviewing each item (or items from the box) would be a better idea that way you can see what I got and also get a review of the products at the same time!

The first two items I decided to review are the lip colors that Donna-Marie sent me. One is from Revlon, their Just Bitten Kissable line and the other is from L.A. Colors which is a moisturizing lip gloss.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Darling Cherie

This is a perfect spring color and because I love purple lip colors! I had not tried Revlon’s balm stains before even though I have seen them a million times in the store. I am glad that I received one from Donna- Marie, but I wish I would have picked one up sooner! I love this balm stain. The color payoff is good and as you apply the lip color it has a light minty -tingly sensation to it. To me, it is not an annoying sensation, it is more of a refreshing feeling. The color does last all day long and the texture of the balm is moisturizing but not heavy!

l.a. colors

L. A. Colors Moisturizing Lipgloss in Orchid

If you are not quite ready for the pastels or bright pop of color, this is a great alternative. It’s a pinkish color that adds a flush of color and shine to your lips. I have tried a few of L.A. Colors products and I can honestly say I have loved everything I have tried from them. I have a problem with lip glosses that are too thick and it seems there is an increasing amount of them coming out on the market. I don’t want to press my lips together and have to peel them apart from each other. I assure you, that this lip color is not like that. It provides moisture and color, without the heaviness other lip glosses may have.

I think that both of theses lip glosses are spring worthy!

Are you ready for spring?

Electric Blue

The pop of color on the lower lash line is my new favorite thing.

stila and australis 3

I used two palettes to get this look.

Stila’s In the Know palette

stila palette

I used the orange color from this palette called “Fire” and “Clay” as the base color. Stila’s  In the Know palette is a great matte palette if you are on the hunt for one.

Australis’s Neons and Neutrals palette

australis collage

I used the electric blue color from the neon colors.

Other items used:

  • Rimmel’s pop lash mascara in purple
  • Maybelline’s big eyes  mascara in black (as the base)
  • NYX creme blush in orange
  • Anastasia’s dip brow pomade in ebony
  • Erzulie Cosmetics liquid mineral foundation in medium tan, Hekate lipstick, and Megastar goddess glaze

How do you feel about the pop of color on the lower lash line?

Holiday Glimmer #7

Metallic colors are perfect for a New Year’s Eve look…

My lovely friend Dimi from Aesthetic Perfections has created a gorgeous metallic look for New Year’s!

Hello ladies!
I am very happy to again be making a post for my dear friend Etta.
She approached me with the idea of making a Holiday look, so here’s what I came up with.
I think this look is more of the “New Years Eve” type, because its more metallic and bold
I’ve used the Sleek “Sparkle” limited edition palette for the silver (inner corner), bright metallic blue (middle of the lid) and matte silver for blending. For the crease and the outer corner I’ve used Star Crushed Minerals “Teal”. Waterline is AVON “Supershock” eye pencil in blue. Some mascara and some sparkle on your lips and you’re all set 😉
Don’t forget your whole face should be matte, because too much sparkle ain’t so good.
I wish you all magical holidays!
