Current Favorites For My Lips

I have been wearing these two lip items as if my life depended on it…

Fave lip products

L’Oreal Le Matte in “She’s So Matte”

and

Smith’s Strawberry Lip Balm

Both of them are always in my purse and I wear the strawberry lip balm daily. I picked it up at Sephora a few months ago and it has become a product I use daily and couldn’t live without now. The Le Matte was ( I think) a special edition spring collection from L’Oreal because I can’t find them anywhere now. It is a gorgeous matte pink! I typically put on the strawberry lip balm first and then the matte color. It keeps my lips hydrated and helps the color last longer. Even without the lip balm, I get all day wear out of L’Oreal le matte lip color.

Wet n Wild Balm Stain

Lady and the Vamp & Pinky Promise

These balm stains are the real deal. I picked these up a little over a week ago from Walgreen’s. Wet n Wild launched this line of lip stains for Spring 2014. I couldn’t pass these up because I love lip stains and they are extremely affordable. They are originally $2.99 but they have an instant $1.00 off coupon wrapped around the cap making them $1.99. Which to me, isn’t a big loss if I ended up hating them.

Let me show you how they look on…

Lady and the Vamp Balm Stain

This color is a true stain. When I say true, I mean it will seriously stain your lips and last all day. I love that it provides moisture and not only color. Since it did stain my lips so well, it took quite a bit of rubbing at the end of the day to get the color off.

Pinky Promise

Pinky Promise is a beautiful shimmer color. The shimmer does last all day while moisturizing your lips.

Do I recommend these?

Absolutely, if you are looking for a long lasting, affordable, moisturizing lip stain these Wet n Wild balm stains are a must have!!!

What are your favorite lip stains?

Desert Wind

Stila’s  “in the know” palette is one of my favorites…

Today, I wanted to show you a simple 4 step look.

Before you start, prime your lid with your favorite primer. Mine currently is NYX primer.

1) Cover eyelid using Desert

2) Put driftwood onto crease and blend

3) Apply 2-3 coats of mascara. I used NYX wonder pencil in medium on my water line. To highlight my brow bone I used the color wind.

4) Apply mascara to bottom lashes if desired.

stila look 7 done

You, my darling, are done!!! For my lips, I went with a nude lip and I used NYX rouge in orange.

I didn’t want to use any eyeliner because I wanted a very simple look.

Remember to get a look, you do not have to use the same products. You can use similar products to get this look as well!!

Lavender Voltage

My new favorite lipstick…

Yes, I do get awkward stares whilst wearing this. Do you think I care? No, because I know it looks nothing short of amazing.

lavendar voltage

I have never worn such a bold purple on my lips.

This is the limited edition “Lavender Voltage” color from Maybelline’s Fall 2013 On the Runway Collection. The collection features not only lipstick and glosses, it includes palettes and nail polishes as well. I purchased it at Walgreen’s for $7.99. There are a few other colors that are a part of this line that I will be purchasing in the near future because I love how pigmented the color is and the lipstick itself is moisturizing.

Have you ever worn purple lipstick? If so, what brand?

Nude Lips-Part Two {Nude Lips for a Woman of Color}

Sometimes, it is better to have more than one option…

Last Sunday, I wrote a post about finding my perfect nude lip and it happens to be my most popular post. I hope that it has helped someone, or even a few of you, on the hunt for your perfect nude lip shade!

Now, I must say, it seems as though the nude lip phenomenon is more accommodating to people who have fairer skin (not to say a fair skinned person has never struggled finding their perfect shade).  On my quest I found the shades for my skin were either too light or too dark. I am here to tell you, there are options out there for you (dark or light) but you just have to experiment and see what works for you.

I wanted to share with you another great nude lip combo I have found…well, I actually created this one.

The Khroma Beauty duo is part of the “Au Naturel” set I talked about in my first nude lip post .

The matte lipstick is from Kate for Rimmel can be purchased at Walmart for $3.97

The flower beauty lip gloss is from Walmart as well and cost $6.98

If you don’t want to invest in the au naturel set but like the Kate lipstick and the flower lip gloss, buy a lip liner that matches your natural lip line.

Okay, so what does this combo look like?

Amazing would be the correct term.

For this look I lined my lips using the Khorma “In the Buff” lip liner and I than put the Kate lipstick on.

Here, I added the flower beauty lip gloss on top of the lipstick and liner.

Confessions of a Lip Product Junkie {Confession #1}

Hi, my name is Etta, and I am highly addicted to lip products. Lip gloss, lipstick, lip stain, lip exfoliate, lip butter, lip tint…you get the point. I love to try, buy, and use lip products. It has been an addiction of mine for quite some time and as I get older it only gets worse. I thought to myself last night why not share my addiction with you lovely people. If you have not noticed most of my product reviews are about lip products anyways, so why not dedicate a post to it at least once a week?!

This week I have been using Flower Beauty Sheer Up Lip Tint in “Airy Orchid” quite often. If you aren’t familiar with Flower beauty, allow me to enlighten you. Flower was created by Drew Barrymore (I love her, just so you know) because she wanted to make luxury beauty products, like you see in Sephora, available at a reasonable price. Hence the reason it is sold at Wal-Mart for $7 a tint. Also, the highest priced item from the line is $18. Not too pricey if you ask me.

This is Airy Orchid and I love this color (as I do almost every lip product).

A picture with a little less lighting.

As you can see the sheer up lip tint has a pretty good amount of pigment to it. Some lip tints claim to be pigmented and they do nothing but add a little bit of glitz to your lips.

Love:

  • Long wear (color does not easily fade)
  • Easy to carry around & doesn’t melt easily in the summer heat (Seriously, I left my purse in the car the other day for about an hour in 100 degree weather. I went to go get it and thought FML because I just bought this and thought it was going to be melted in the bottom of my purse. It had just started to show signs of melting. Pretty damn good if you ask me.)
  • Self sharpening

Loathe:

  • I wish they had more colors. There are a four other colors and airy orchid is the darkest they have. However, it’s not the end of my world because the product is great.

Now for you my loves. Have you tried anything from flower beauty? Is it available in your area? ( I ask this because I intend on doing a giveaway soon) What has been your best and worst lip product purchase thus far?

*No, I did not get paid to do this. I did it to feed my addiction to lip products*
