Simplified Makeup

I haven’t blogged in quite awhile due to a few reasons. The main reason, if you read my blog you already know, is that I am pregnant. My focus has changed a bit and so have my priorities. Secondly, my son is home all the time and we have a very busy schedule. By the time I get home I am exhausted. HOWEVER, in all honesty, I miss each and everyone of you so I am trying to post as much as I can!

Today, we had a few appointments to go to so I kept my makeup simple yet fun! It has been so hot that I haven’t felt like putting on a whole  bunch of makeup to have it all melted on to my face.

makeup items monday2

My makeup routine has simplified A LOT and I haven’t really bought a ton of makeup. Shocking, I know.

My go to items are:

Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB cream- I already did a review on it and I love it even more now because it does have sunscreen in it. Since getting knocked up, ;), my skin has been all over the place. I know that I can put this on and not have any problems arise.

Anastasia’s Dipbrow Pomade

Benefit’s Watt’s Up

Urban Decay Primer-If you haven’t tried it, try it!!

NYX Rouge in Orange- This blush gives me a nice glow!!

Lorac eyeshadow trio- Love this eyeshadow! From my understanding Sephora is no longer going to carry Lorac so I got an amazing deal on it!! Does you Sephora have Lorac?

Khroma- In the Buff Honey Stick- My favorite lip glosses!!

Milani Grandissimo Mascara- It is a nice mascara, I prefer it over the Makeup Forever one I have!

I hope each of you are enjoying your summer or winter, depending where you are, much love!!!

Electric Blue

The pop of color on the lower lash line is my new favorite thing.

stila and australis 3

I used two palettes to get this look.

Stila’s In the Know palette

stila palette

I used the orange color from this palette called “Fire” and “Clay” as the base color. Stila’s  In the Know palette is a great matte palette if you are on the hunt for one.

Australis’s Neons and Neutrals palette

I used the electric blue color from the neon colors.

Other items used:

  • Rimmel’s pop lash mascara in purple
  • Maybelline’s big eyes  mascara in black (as the base)
  • NYX creme blush in orange
  • Anastasia’s dip brow pomade in ebony
  • Erzulie Cosmetics liquid mineral foundation in medium tan, Hekate lipstick, and Megastar goddess glaze

How do you feel about the pop of color on the lower lash line?

Hogwarts Graduate

Harry Potter movies and books bring me a nostalgic feeling  of my childhood…

I am not old, nor will I ever say I am old. I am 24 and the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, came out when I was in 5th grade.  Harry Potter, next to the Lord of the Rings, is the only book series I feel has been created well on the big screen.

There is a Harry Potter marathon going on this weekend, so naturally I conjured up a look to show my love.

Lavender Eyes & Red Lips

Lilac eyes and red lips is my new favorite look. Can you blame me?

lilac eyes and red lips

Red and purple have always been two of my favorite colors. I didn’t think much of pairing these two colors together makeup wise until…

teen choice awards

I saw my woman crush, Kerry Washington, wearing the combo at the teen choice awards. No, I didn’t watch the award show but people were raving about her look the next day. She is gorgeous and respectable! Can you blame me for crushing?! Her dress was on point for the awards show and was designed by Stella McCartney.

I tried it out myself, and I LOVE the look!

If you want to try it out, here is what I used

lilac eyes look 1

Lips = Bite Beauty lipsticks, Vidal & Pomegranate, I layered the colors so that I could create a pink undertone. I put Vidal on first and than Pomegranate.

Eyes = Star Crushed Minerals eye shadow in No. 11 Starry Pink and I used the lavender color from my “Dark Shadows Crimson Amulet” Palette which was created by NYX with inspiration from the movie “Dark Shadows”.

I applied the starry pink first, because again, I wanted a pink undertone to my lavender color.

What do you think of the look? Would or will you try it?

One Blouse & One Look from Day to Night

Your day has been busy, but you have plans that evening and there is no time to go home and completely revamp yourself.

Have no fear! You don’t have to drive, walk, or catch a train all the way home. You can add pieces to your outfit or even remove pieces that will have you looking fab from day to night in no time!

I have a new blouse that I was piecing together to see how versatile it is with what I have in my closet. When I shop, the first thing I ask myself is “How versatile is the item?”. I am a college student and I have a family, so budgeting is a necessity. I don’t have the means, as of now, to go out and buy a new outfit each and every time my husband and I have an event or I have a meeting.

Fashion is what you buy. Style is what you do with it.

That is one of my all time favorite quotes because style is what you choose. I love the fact that you can take one item of clothing and style it in different ways and get a uniquely different look each time.

Since my day will be busy and the husband I have plans later this evening I wanted to be able to take what I have on from day to night.

It all started with…

day to night look 1.1

That I wanted to take from…

day to night look 2.1

day look

day to night look 3.1

night look

During the day, I like to keep it neutral and not to saucy. I am doing school work, attending appointments, being a mom, etc all during the day. As much as I love to dress up and look fancy, I realize that wearing night wear during the day is not realistic or practical for the situations I am in. The burnt orange blazer with the ruched 3/4 length sleeves, makes this blouse professional and wearable for day time activities.

When it comes to night time, I want to jazz myself up. I love black. Black can be used as a nighttime or daytime wear color. However, with this particular blazer I am dubbing it as an event clothing item. It is dressy but still casual.

What about your makeup?

day to night makeup look 2

For the daytime makeup I wanted to keep it simple and not very dramatic. I used the Wet n Wild Fergie’s Centerstage Collection palette in “Newport Nights”. I put the lilac color on my lid (bottom right color of palette) and the gold color that is in the center of the palette on my crease. I then lined the top lashes with Cailyn’s cosmetics gel eye liner in purple. I extended that line out a little past my lashes…

For night time I wanted to do a cat eye look using the same purple eye liner and also line my bottom lashes. Like so…

night makeup look

By adding the cat eye look and adding liner to my bottom lashes, it gives my eyes a dramatic look! Now, I am ready to have a night out on the town!!

How do you transform your looks from day to night when there is not much time to spare?

Eyes Set on Paradise

Cream eye shadows have always been a mystery to me…until recently.

My friend Rosie and I were discussing last night that part of the whole enjoyment of applying makeup is experimenting, enhancing, and transforming. I am still trying to get the basics down, and I feel I will forever be learning new tips and tricks, but I have been buying products recently that I thought I would never purchase.

Number one on the list was cream eyeshadow. I just didn’t understand how something wet could go on your eye and last ALL DAY!

I was browsing around the stores the other day (as always) and I came across a brand called essence. The packaging and presentation of the product seemed a bit juvenile, like it was truly meant for pre-teen girls, but that didn’t stop me from pawing through the display anyways.

Essence prices are very low and they were having a buy one get one half off sale. They had a section that was dubbed “Limited Edition” and the theme of the makeup selection is “Ticket to Paradise”. The name suits the color selection because the eye shadows and lip glosses are very vibrant. They even had a body shimmer, a trio of nail polish jars, and some hair mascara (which is temporary, washable color for your hair).

I was intrigued by the eye shadows and lip glosses (naturally) that they had. The eye shadows are cream and come in two colors and the lip glosses are a gel tint type lip gloss.

I ended up choosing a cream eye shadow because I love the color!

Swatch, this is without flash in the sunlight. When I did it with flash the color didn’t show up too well on my hand.

This morning I couldn’t wait to wear it and I must admit I love the look I created…

  • It wears really well. When you put it on it dries to a powder.
  • The color is more vibrant once you put it on
  • The color can be built up, if you want a little less apply less if you want more apply more.

  • When applying it, make sure that you build it up to the intensity you want while it is still wet. If you don’t it will flake off when trying to apply the wet to the dry.
  • You will have sparkles galore under your eyes if you don’t build it to the color intensity you want the first time.

Just so you know this product is made in Germany and it is available overseas, according to their website. This jar cost me $1.99 with the half off, but it is originally $3.99.

It’s a great buy and a quality product! I think I am finally coming around to cream eye shadows!

Face the Grey

Hello Lovelies,

Just so you know, I am not speaking of 50 Shades of Grey. Also, in case you were wondering, I have read all 3 installments of the 50 Shades of Grey series. Not sure if that is something you are supposed to proudly confess or if that is supposed to be a guilty confession. Either way, it is so.

Anyways, “Face the Grey” is the name of the eyeshadow pallet I used to achieve my makeup for the day. This pallet is from Flower Beauty and it cost me $10.

I love the colors. They are simple with endless possibilities.

Here is the look I created by using this pallet.

Less lighting, I look unimpressed but hey, it’s about the makeup right?!

How did I get this look? Easy as 1,2,3…

flower compact 4 numbered

  1. First, I applied color #1 from lash line to brow bone
  2. Then,I applied color #2 all over my lids
  3. Finally, I applied color #3 to the crease of my eyes

On my face I have Makeup Forever HD powder, Bare Minerals N40 & for my lashes my mascara is Makeup Forever Smoky Extravaganza. On my lips I have Kate for Rimmel matte lipstick.

The look is simple and the colors are beautiful.

What do you think of this look and pallet? Yay or nay?
