Simplified Makeup

I haven’t blogged in quite awhile due to a few reasons. The main reason, if you read my blog you already know, is that I am pregnant. My focus has changed a bit and so have my priorities. Secondly, my son is home all the time and we have a very busy schedule. By the time I get home I am exhausted. HOWEVER, in all honesty, I miss each and everyone of you so I am trying to post as much as I can!

Today, we had a few appointments to go to so I kept my makeup simple yet fun! It has been so hot that I haven’t felt like putting on a whole  bunch of makeup to have it all melted on to my face.

makeup items monday2

My makeup routine has simplified A LOT and I haven’t really bought a ton of makeup. Shocking, I know.

My go to items are:

Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB cream- I already did a review on it and I love it even more now because it does have sunscreen in it. Since getting knocked up, ;), my skin has been all over the place. I know that I can put this on and not have any problems arise.

Anastasia’s Dipbrow Pomade

Benefit’s Watt’s Up

Urban Decay Primer-If you haven’t tried it, try it!!

NYX Rouge in Orange- This blush gives me a nice glow!!

Lorac eyeshadow trio- Love this eyeshadow! From my understanding Sephora is no longer going to carry Lorac so I got an amazing deal on it!! Does you Sephora have Lorac?

Khroma- In the Buff Honey Stick- My favorite lip glosses!!

Milani Grandissimo Mascara- It is a nice mascara, I prefer it over the Makeup Forever one I have!

I hope each of you are enjoying your summer or winter, depending where you are, much love!!!

Holiday Glimmer #5

You can create a smokey eye with any color and it always looks gorgeous…

My beautiful friend Katie of Kalos Makeup Artistry created this green smokey eye for Holiday Glimmer.

Katie for Holiday Glimmer

I love this look!

This look is subtle and soft and could be recreated by any level of makeup junkie! All you would need is two different shades of green, one darker and one lighter!

What are your holiday plans?

Holiday Glimmer #4

I am going to welcome 2014 with open arms…

Not everything from 2013 was bad, but everything that happened was life changing.  Are you ready for a new year?

New Years eve collab

I am absolutely, positively ready for the new year!!

For this look, I used a silver eyeliner pencil on my lid and then a darker silver eyeshadow in my crease. To get a cream color to last longer, use a primer and also put a little bit of mineral powder or the same color eyeshadow over it.

Where will you be bringing in the new year?

Holiday Glimmer #1

9 days until Christmas…

I must admit that Christmas isn’t as fun now as when I was little. But let’s be honest, there are a lot of things about adulthood that aren’t fun! I will always enjoy the time I get to spend with my family and the memories we make.

Since there is only 9 days to Christmas, I thought I would present you with a series of looks that you could possibly wear for Christmas day or even to a Christmas party!

Look #1

inglot 2 ET

I was finally able to get my hands on a beautiful red eyeshadow from Inglot courtesy of my friend Dimana of Aesthetic Perfections . She sent me a freedom systems palette that has a red eyeshadow and purple lip color. My two favorite colors are red and purple so you can imagine my excitement when I received the palette!

I also used a color from Star Crushed Minerals called “Golden Peach” it is one of my favorite colors from Star Crushed Minerals. I applied golden peach to my crease and blended it out all the way up to my brow bone. I then used “Moondust” on the inner corner of my eye as a highlight.

I used a black eyeliner pencil to line my top and bottom lashes and used liquid eyeliner to draw on the wing. Makeup tip I have found it easier to create winged eyeliner with the use of both pencil and liquid eyeliner. I line my top and bottom lashes with the pencil and then draw on the wing with the liquid.

Inglot

I think for this look I should have used a red lip BUT I love it none the less. Let me know if any of you are interested in a pictorial or video for this look!

What is your favorite part of the holidays?

Pat McGrath is my makeup artist idol…

I was flipping through Glamour’s October magazine and they had an interview with Pat McGrath, who is an amazing makeup artist. She did the makeup for Dolce and Gabbana’s runway models. The looks were elegant, eye-catching, and completely inspirational.

See what I mean? I absolutely love these looks!!!!!! (Hopefully the exclamation marks help express my excitement)

So, I attempted to re-create this look for myself:

glamour inspired makeup look two

The items I used were not D&G.

Face: NYX HD Fninishing Powder, bareMinerals foundation N40, Fergie collection shimmer in rose golden goddess, and star crushed mineral’s mauve-o-lous blusher

Eyes: Starlooks obsidian color eyeliner, NYX liquid eyeliner, Fergie cocoa riche creme eyeliner (lower lash line), NYX wonder pencil in medium, star crushed minerals golden peach all over lid to brow bone, and than olive pink in crease.

Lips: Cailyn cosmetics tinted lip balm in big apple and khroma beauty honey stick in “in the buff”.

Which makeup artist inspires you?

NYX Natural Palette

Beauty recommendation of the week…

I have had my eye on this palette for awhile and I finally got my hands on it!!

NYX natural palette stamp

NYX Natural Pallete. Neutral colors that are great for everyday. The best part is that it is affordable, regular price is $6.99 and I got it on sale at Ulta for $5.00.

NYX natural palette 1 stamp

I believe that these colors can work with a warm or cool skin tone.

Here is the look I created…

NYX natural palette 3 stamp

NYX natural palette 4 stamp

I used the third color in the palette (from left to right) all over the lid and than I used the second to the last color on the lid and used the darkest color on the right on the outer corner and part way in the crease.

For my brows I used Benefit’s “Gimme Brow” and for primer I used Wet n Wild’s Fergie Collection Shimmer primer. The primer is amazing and it has quickly become my favorite.

Etta’s Beauty Tip: Neutral colors can be a great addition to your beauty entourage because they allow you to create subtle, soft looks. However, you can also use the darkest color and intensify it to create an easy day to night look.

Eyes of the Week

Didn’t wear a lot of eyeshadow this week (shocking I know) but I have made some looks I love…
